Our Leadership Team
Andy Martyn
Our Managing Director, Andy, has been in the electronics industry for over 30 years, inspired and driven by the opportunities created by the furious pace of technology change.
After obtaining his Master’s Degree in Electronics from the University of Surrey, he worked for a number of companies in the industry including BAE Systems, Siemens and Roke Manor Research.
One of his claims to fame was developing and patenting a technology demonstrator for a “GPS guided tourist information system” that you would now recognise as an early version of Sat Nav! Andy also contributed to a joint project to develop a 3G technology demonstrator for mobile phones with Siemens, Nokia and Ericsson. He is also proud that his final-year dissertation project explored new concepts for active noise cancellation, which later became a mainstream technology in noise-cancelling headphones. He also spent many years helping to develop Machine vision inspection systems for hot rolling steel mills along with width and shape measurement systems.
Andy established Ammtek in 2009 to offer their clients design and development services, driven by the desire to help businesses that either did not have their own in-house electronics department, or simply needed additional resource. Andy’s true passion is partnering with businesses by joining them on their strategic journey, challenging and guiding to achieve outstanding results.
Heather Martyn
Heather is our Director of Operations, a strong leader with a background in operations, project management and stakeholder management. She brings a wealth of experience into every project and conversation and excels at understanding the bigger picture, helping to drive Ammtek forward and their clients’ businesses too.
She is a fantastic team player, empowering others to be the best that they can be. She is passionate about people and business, and she is able to facilitate, encourage and inspire business owners to make the most out of the opportunities that are available to them.
In 2024, Heather was appointed as the South West Ambassador in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole for the Institute of Directors (IOD) and in this role she works to understand the needs of local businesses and the challenges that they face to see how the IoD can support them. Heather hosts IoD meetings at Ammtek offices in Bournemouth, Dorset.
